On June 8-13, 2006, during 16th ISHAM Congress in Paris, a joint ISHAM-ECMM session was held.
The session was entitled “Molecular taxonomy” and chaired by Josep Guarro and Sybren de Hoog.

The first ECMM congress took place in Paris, France, on November 26, 1993.
About 300 participants from 30 countries were delegates of 1st ECMM Congress.
